Zmanda introduces Windows Edition of MySQL Backup and Recovery Solution

13. October 2008 — Zmanda, the leader in open source backup and recovery software, today announced the immediate availability of Zmanda Recovery Manager (ZRM) Enterprise version 3.0 for MySQL. 6. October 2008 — Infobright, the open source data warehousing company, today announced that Polystar OSIX, one of Europe's leading telecommunications suppliers, has selected its flagship Infobright Enterprise Edition (IEE) solution to drive improved analytics for the Polystar OSIX OSS application suite for fixed, mobile and Voice over IP (VoIP) networks. MySQL Conference & Expo Opens Call for Participation

4. September 2008 — O'Reilly Media has opened the Call for Participation for the 2009 MySQL Conference & Expo, scheduled for April 20-23, in Santa Clara, California.

Conference program chair Colin Charles and the program committee invite proposals for conference sessions, panel discussions, and tutorials. More than 2,000 attendees are expected to participate in over 120 sessions at next year's event.

Amazon Web Services Launches the Amazon Elastic Block Store for Amazon EC2

21. August 2008 — Amazon Web Services LLC, a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., today launched the Amazon Elastic Block Store, a new persistent storage feature for the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud. Amazon EC2 is an infrastructure service that provides resizable compute capacity in the cloud. With Amazon EBS, storage volumes can be programmatically created, attached to Amazon EC2 instances, and if even more durability is desired, can be backed with a snapshot to the Amazon Simple Storage Service.

With the introduction of EBS, MySQL users will be able to increase the durability and portability of their database applications deployed in the cloud," said Juan Carlos Soto, VP of Global Market Development at Sun Microsystems. RightScale Delivers Critical Cloud Computing and MySQL Database Management Capabilities for the Enterprise

30. Hyperic Announces MySQL Performance Study Results

7.
